Match FAQ - PLC Alumni Match Program (PLC AMP)
Matches are based on the information provided in both mentor and mentee profiles, including career interests, goals, and areas of expertise. The PLC Connections Team of Student Staff carefully reviews each profile to individually pair students with alumni who align with their career aspirations and professional backgrounds.
We recommend meeting with your match 2-3 times over the course of the semester. These meetings can be scheduled based on mutual availability and can take place virtually, over the phone, or in person. Meetings are organized by the AMP Pairs, student led. The PLC AMP team does not organize meetings for pairings but is here as a resource for any communication issues or assistance.
Your discussions can cover a range of topics, such as career exploration, industry trends, skill development, and networking strategies. Use the PLC AMP Connection Roadmap as a guide to help structure your meetings and provide meaningful support.
If you鈥檙e having difficulty reaching your student match, please send a follow-up email or message. If you still encounter communication issues, please contact Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu, and we鈥檒l assist in re-establishing contact or exploring alternative options.
Yes! If you and your match both wish to continue the relationship beyond the semester, you can request that at the end of each semester session. However, each new semester involves a fresh matching process (don't worry, you don't have to re-fill out the form), and you will have the option to be matched with different students.
If you feel that the match isn鈥檛 aligning with your expectations or that the connection isn鈥檛 working out, please reach out to Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu. We鈥檙e here to support you and can discuss options to ensure a positive experience for both parties.
As a PLC alumni, you鈥檙e expected to respond to your student match's initial and subsequent emails, offer guidance and advice, maintain professionalism in all interactions, and meet with them 2-3 times over the semester. Review the Expectations Agreement for a full understanding of your role.
