Ph.D. Students
I am currently looking for motivated, talented, and intellectually curious Ph.D. students to join our research group and perform innovative research in spacecraft trajectory analysis, design, and prediction in multi-body gravitational systems. If you are interested in being considered for our research group, please apply directly to our department's Ph.D. program. Every university and department approaches the application process differently. Our department's application instructions can be found on our department's webpage;ÌýI encourage you to use application fee waivers from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, if offered and if you are eligible, to reduce the financial impact of applying to Ph.D. programs. In your application, please be sure to explicitly mention our research group and explain why you are interested in our research; this information helps me to better understand your interest in our group. While you are welcome to email me before the application due date, please note that I may not reply. I prefer to comprehensively review folks' complete applications after they are formally submitted to our Ph.D. program. If, after reviewing your application to our Ph.D. program, I have identified you as a candidate for our research group, I will reach out to you personally to discuss next steps.
M.S. Thesis Students
If you are currently an MS student in our department, you may be interested in completing an MS thesis under my supervision.ÌýTheÌýMSÌýthesisÌýis typically completed over the span of theÌýsecondÌýyearÌýof theÌýMSÌýover two semesters. This gives students an opportunity to focus on the required coursework for theÌýMSÌýin the firstÌýyearÌýand learn about various aspects of astrodynamics that they may/may not have seen before narrowing down aÌýthesisÌýtopic. I usually start to consider requests forÌýMSÌýthesisÌýadvising the middle of the semester before folks want to start theirÌýMSÌýthesis, i.e., typically middle of Spring semester if their second year starts in the Fall. If you are interested in completing anÌýMSÌýthesisÌýthat I advise, please email me directly with information about your current focus area, classes you have taken, general areas of astrodynamics and space operations that you are fascinated by, and what you hope to gain from an MS thesis.Ìý
Undergraduate Students
Unfortunately, I do not expect to advise any undergraduate research projects in AY2024-25. I hope to again in the future, so please check back again.
