Stravinsky鈥檚 century-old masterpiece 鈥淭he Rite of Spring鈥� and Miles Davis鈥� landmark 鈥淏irth of the Cool鈥� are on the program at a free Boettcher Concert Hall showcase on April 26, featuring performances by CU-Boulder鈥檚 College of Music ensembles and children from El Sistema Colorado.

Each year, CU-Boulder dance students and faculty come together for 鈥淭he Current,鈥� an annual showcase of brand-new pieces. This year鈥檚 performances take place April 15-17 and feature evocative, original work by dance professors Erika Randall and Donna Mejia, lecturer Larry Southall, alumna Megan Odom and Roser Guest Artist Faye Driscoll.

Hip-hop artist Tory Lanez, best known for his hit "Say It," will perform on March 29, at 8:30 p.m. at CU-Boulder's Glenn Miller Ballroom. Doors for the event, sponsored by CU-Boulder's Program Council, will open at 8 p.m. Student tickets are $15 and tickets for the public are $25. All guests will need a printed ticket and valid form of photo identification to enter.

The madcap jukebox musical 鈥淩eturn to the Forbidden Planet,鈥� set in a rock 鈥榥鈥� roll Shakespearean spaceship, comes to University Theatre this March. Associate Professor Cecilia Pang directs the production, which promises nonstop laughs, infectious tunes and a generous nod to the Bard.

CU Presents鈥� 2015-16 season continues with the first ever Boulder performance by Los Angeles-based dance company BODYTRAFFIC. The group is set to present three contemporary pieces inspired by urban life from all around the world on Sunday, Feb. 14.

Rennie Harris and his dynamic dance company, Grass Roots Project, will present the hip-hop-inspired 鈥淏eautiful Human Lies鈥� at CU-Boulder鈥檚 Irey Theatre Feb. 12-14. Harris, a regular guest artist at CU-Boulder, is widely recognized as the world鈥檚 foremost choreographer of hip-hop and street dance theater.

CU-Boulder instructor Lynn Nichols, former general manager of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, is set to direct an on-campus production of 鈥淭he Winter鈥檚 Tale,鈥� Jan. 27-31, at CU-Boulder鈥檚 Loft Theatre. The all-student cast brings William Shakespeare鈥檚 timeless tragicomedy to life with vintage costumes and interactive staging.

The Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir choir will illuminate South African life through music, singing and dancing on Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m., in Macky Auditorium.
