Join us for a free special event at Fiske Planetarium at 2:00 pm on April 23, 2022.听 CU student actors听will present three scenes听from the Department of Theatre and Dance Roe Green production听They Promised Her the Moon听by Laurel Ollstein, against the backdrop of the planetarium dome.听听They Promised Her the Moon听tells the true story of aviator Jerrie Cobb and the听Mercury 13: a group of women who underwent rigorous psychological and physical astronaut training but were ultimately denied entry into the space program based on their sex.
Associate Professor Tamara Meneghini directs and will moderate a conversation to follow about women in space with the playwright Laurel Ollstein, members of the cast, and听Professor of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences听Frances "Fran" Bagenal.
