Congrats to Lexi on her thesis defense!

Physalis acutifolia

Lexi has been conducting research on breeding systems in Physalis acutifolia for the last two years with Chelsea as her mentor.  Working together, they discovered that this species varies in self-compatibility, with some populations self-compatible and others self-incompatible.  Lexi's thesis also examined how this intraspecific variation affect the potential for P. acutifolia to accept pollen from other Physalis species.  With her successful defense, Lexi will graduate with high honors (magna cum laude).  Well-deserved!
