The Bard in your backyard: Shakespeare covers Colorado

Merry Wives performance

Since starting in 1958, the has become a summertime staple in Boulder. Organizers now hope to build on the festival鈥檚 popularity by taking their show on the road.

In February, CSF announced Shakespeare Across Colorado鈥攁 new initiative to bring live, professional Shakespeare performances to all 64 Colorado counties in the next decade.

The $3.2 million endeavor will reach an estimated 180,000 audience members in community theaters, school cafeterias and other venues across the state by 2028.

鈥淭he Colorado Shakespeare Festival recognizes its role in sharing Shakespeare not only with the Front Range, but with people of every corner of the state,鈥 said Amanda Giguere, CSF director of outreach. 鈥淪hakespeare was truly the people鈥檚 playwright鈥攈e wrote about every aspect of humanity.鈥
