We sent this email at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, to students whose ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� records were subpoenaed as part of a class-action lawsuit.

*Please read the following notice about a class action lawsuit. This is for your information only; you are not required to take any action.*

Dear [first],

The University of Colorado Boulder received a subpoena from an attorney representing current and former student-athletes from other institutions who are plaintiffs in a class action anti-trust lawsuit against the NCAA, the Pac-12 and other defendants. This lawsuit is known as In re: College Athlete NIL Litigation, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Case No. 4:20-cv-03919-CW. The lawsuit challenges the NCAA's current and former rules regarding student-athlete name, image and likenesses ("NILs"). The subpoena requires that ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� provide select student-athlete, education and financial aid records maintained by the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Financial Aid and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to the plaintiff's attorney.

Neither you nor ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� is a party to this lawsuit. You are receiving this letter because the Office of the Registrar is complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal student privacy law that requires advance notification before records concerning students are provided in response to any subpoena. This is done so that you, at your sole option and effort, can decide whether you would like to make any objection or file any motion with the court, if you determine that there is a legal basis that information concerning you should not be provided. Otherwise, ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� intends to comply with the subpoena and provide the records to the requestor in mid-June 2023.

The judge in this lawsuit issued a protective order over confidential records, which includes certain student records provided by universities. This information may or may not affect what course of action you may decide to take.

We sent this email on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, to undergraduate students who were on scholastic suspension prior to Sprin 2023 and will continue on academic suspension following the Spring 2023 semester.

Dear [first],

Your academic record reflects that you were placed on scholastic suspension prior to the Spring 2023 semester. Effective Fall 2022, ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� introduced a unified academic standing policy for undergraduate degree-seeking students across all colleges, schools and programs.

Following the posting of grades for the Spring 2023 semester, your academic record was carefully reviewed. You have not met the required 2.000 cumulative CU GPA minimum and, therefore, will continue on academic suspension and be evaluated for academic standing in accordance with the new policy from this point forward.

Note that if you are enrolled in Continuing Education courses you will need to maintain a 2.300 semester GPA or above for each fall and spring enrolled semester, including the Fall 2023 semester, in Continuing Education. You will not be eligible to enroll in Main Campus courses during the fall or spring semesters until you have completed the requirements for reinstatement after academic suspension through the options explained below, which includes earning the required 2.000 cumulative CU GPA minimum or returning through conditional enrollment.

As a reminder, a registration hold related to your academic suspension status has been placed on your record and your official transcript still shows that you are on academic suspension.

Federal regulations require students to make satisfactory academic progress in a program of study to be eligible for financial aid. For additional information, see the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy webpage.

Options for Reinstatement after Academic Suspension

Please consider the following options available to you for raising your cumulative GPA, and view ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� academic standing requirements for more detailed information.

Take courses offered through Continuing Education.
Take summer courses at any University of Colorado campus.
Take courses at another accredited college or university.
Take at least one calendar year off with no enrollment at any institution.

Your Next Steps

Log in to Buff Portal to view your holds for more information about your suspension status and any next steps specific to your college, school or program. (Learn more about how to resolve your holds & to do items.)
Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor/coach to map out an academic improvement plan. They will help you explore your options and assist you with the next steps to get your academic career back on the path to success.
If applicable, you may view your financial aid status in Buff Portal. Students who have a ‘Suspended’ SAP status can submit an appeal form to request a reinstatement of financial aid.
Log in to Buff Portal to view your holds for more information about your status and any next steps from your college, school or program.

Effective Spring 2022, grade replacement is applied automatically at the end of each semester when a student repeats an eligible course, and there is no longer a limit to the number of credit hours students can use for grade replacement. However, some academic programs have limits on the number of course repeats allowed for specific courses or number of attempts for degree applicability.

Note: Grade replacement may be revoked by action of the Office of Student Conduct if an honor code violation is found to have occurred.

��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Your Transcript & GPA

Remember, under grade replacement the grade you earned in your most recent prior attempt will still appear on your transcript, but it will be replaced in your cumulative GPA and credit totals by the grade from your latest attempt as long as that grade is the same or better.

How to Participate

Opt in to the program. By opting in, you're consenting to have your CU academic records securely shared with your community college.
If you've taken courses at any other college or university, be sure to have official transcripts sent to your community college so they can evaluate that work as well.

What Happens Next

After your opt in, your former community college will review your degree eligibility starting in September.

If you're eligible for a degree, it will be awarded to you automatically. The community college will contact you via the email you provided on the opt-in site.

It is important that faculty, advisors and students are aware of how student enrollments in ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� intersessions are assigned and handled in term processing.

As a reminder, intersessions use the following term assignments:

Winter Session: Spring Semester
Maymester: Summer Session
Augmester: Summer Session

For example, Winter Session is officially part of Spring Semester at ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ��. Registration for Winter Session classes occurs along with enrollment for other spring classes, tuition is billed as part of Spring Semester, student enrollments are reported in Spring Semester counts and financial aid is packaged as part of Spring Semester awards, if applicable. This also means that seniors planning to graduate in December must complete all requirements by the close of Fall Semester. Winter Session credits do not count toward fall graduation. Both Maymester and Augmester are part of Summer Session and therefore, enrollments in these intersessions are treated and reported accordingly.

Exceptions will not be made to how these enrollments are handled in term business processes or toward degree eligibility. We appreciate your help advising students accordingly!

We sent the following email to students who were assigned a Main Campus enrollment appointment for Spring 2023. Most students received this email around 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022; however, some students received it that morning, while others received it the following morning.

Spring 2023 classes are posted in ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Class Search, which means it's time to start planning your schedule!

Get Ready to Register

Your assigned enrollment period begins at [time] on [date]. Registration remains open through open enrollment, which begins Jan. 10, 2023.

To make registration as easy as possible, complete these tasks ahead of time:

Add your enrollment dates to your calendar.
Work to resolve any registration holds by following instructions in the hold's description.
If you haven't already, schedule an advising appointment. If you're looking to improve your cumulative GPA, discuss whether you'd benefit from retaking a course for grade replacement.
If eligible, reserve a seat in a course. Course reservation starts Monday, Oct. 24, and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.
Complete preregistration.
Search for classes and add them to your shopping cart for faster registration. Learn more about how to search for classes.

Register for Classes

Register as soon as your enrollment time begins for the best chance to get the classes, class times and/or instruction modes you want. For step-by-step instructions, see our registration pages.

If a class you want is full, add yourself to the waitlist and set up drop if enrolled to automatically drop a backup class if you're enrolled from the waitlist.

Coming Back After Some Time Away?

Even if you're not taking classes this fall, you're still considered an active student if you've been gone for fewer than two semesters plus summer (undergrads), or if you took an official leave of absence (grad students).

To take classes this spring, just follow the steps above to register.
