On Oct. 19, horn and piano faculty will collaborate with the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Graduate Wind Quintet and members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in a Faculty Tuesdays program for winds, including celebrated BIPOC composer George Walker's "Wind Set." Says Professor of Horn Michael Thornton, "I'm excited about diversifying the program with a composer who has meaningful connections to ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ." The late George Walker—who became the first African American composer to win a Pulitzer Prize—was a visiting professor here in the 1960s. Learn more about next week's recital.
