CCTSI - Novel Biomechanical Measurements of the Uterine Cervix at Parturition

. The specific goal of this method is to develop a workable device for controlled intracervical pressure application and sensitive real-time monitoring of passive and active cervical mechanical behavior. To assess the physical properties of the cervix, we need a device, method, and recording means to measure pressure and contractility in the cervical canal. This would complement current methods that evaluate the cervical consistency, extracellular matrix content, and mechanical load.
