Dear Infrastructure and Sustainability team,

I want to take a moment to reflect on Chancellor Phil DiStefano’s tenure as he retires from his position this month. It has been an honor to work with Chancellor DiStefano. He has been a part of ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ for over 50 years and has led our campus through change and growth over the past 15 years. What an incredible achievement. We wish him well as he makes this transition and look forward to running into him on campus as he returns to the School of Education and the Center for Leadership.

I’d also like to highlight our Infrastructure & Sustainability Inclusive Excellence Committee (ISIEC). The individuals who serve on this committee are passionate about inclusive excellence on our campus. One of the most exciting projects they’ve undertaken is funding I&S staff members who want to obtain their GED. For more information about what they’re working on and how you can get involved, visit the ISIEC website.

Finally, our chief operating officer Pat O’Rourke sent out his Strategic Relations and Support (SRS) insights email this past month. I encourage you to read more about transformation and financial resilience, one of the hot topics from his email, if you missed it. And I echo his message about self-care: find time this month or in the coming weeks to prioritize your own well-being.

How long have you been working at CU? I’ve been working here since September 2019. 

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? Writing and drawing.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you? I used to practice my evil laugh all the time when I was a kid.

What do you love about ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������? The students are fun to talk to.

What is your favorite type of music? I like rock, though there are a lot of good songs based of Video games that I would die for.

What are you currently reading? The Kinder Poison. Like Cinderella, but if she ended up possibly being the sacrificial lamb in a fight for the crown.

Are you a die-hard fan of anything? Cats. Though as far as TV shows go Supernatural and Doctor Who are big time favorites of mine.

Start it out by learning more about Juneteenth. Campus will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth state holiday. Search out opportunities to learn more about the holiday, celebrate in community, set aside time to dialogue with others about the history of Juneteenth and to participate in related events. 

There are several regional events to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride Month that you can join. In addition, students, staff and faculty are invited to attend an address titled “Loving Blackness and Humanizing Imagination: [Re]engaging Shared Equity Leadership,” given by ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ Professor Danielle Hodge. This virtual event will take place Wednesday, June 12, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. .

June is also Pride Month, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, impact and contributions of community members who identify as LGBTQ+. The provides students and employees with information about upcoming events, and support services for those  living, studying and working in Boulder as well as to LGBTQ+-identified members of the ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ community who are living, studying and working out of state over the summer

While we have always been security conscious in I&S, the complexity, speed and number of cyber threats are increasing, including targeted attacks against colleges and universities. These threats range from phishing attacks, where attackers impersonate trusted entities to steal sensitive information, to malicious actors using advanced techniques to compromise our systems and  data.

To better protect our university’s data and resources, including your personal information, we have been working on several initiatives, in conjunction with the campus IT Security Office and OIT, to enhance and align I&S security measures with campus security standards. 

In summary, it is a campus-wide initiative to both standardize and strengthen the security of campus IT security. Read more about the campus Secure Computing Project.
