  • The Media Production program emphasizes analytical and production skills needed to create cross-platform media. Students are asked to critically analyze existing media and their own work through a variety of theoretical, critical study, and studio classes. Tools utilized include photography, audio/video editing, video production, computational media, open source programming, and emergent technology. 

  • The Political Science minor offers instruction in the scientific study of politics and provides students with the skills necessary for a lifetime of inquiry, engagement and analysis. Courses explore various facets of the political world, including the fields of American government and politics, comparative politics, public policy, political theory, empirical theory and methodology, and international relations.

  • Strategic Communication explores the way in which organizations use advertising, public relations and media design to accomplish their communication goals. Students learn how to generate ideas and solve problems for brands and issues through a design thinking process that is grounded in analytical and creative thought.

  • Students in the English minor program study both literature and the practice of writing through the exploration of various genres. Interdisciplinary Media Art Practices - Digital Arts +

  • The digital arts program explores the use and integration of new media technologies into art practices. Additionally, it offers a critical and collaborative art research environment where students investigate emerging art forms and media technologies that feed into their own evolving practice.

  • The mission of the minor in sports media is to broaden students' understanding of the role of sports in society by enhancing the quality of public communication on sports, especially the quality of sports journalism and the delivery of sporting events.

  • Sustainable planning and urban design examine issues of sustainability and social justice in communities, cities and regions around the world. Heavily centered around community engagement, this major allows students to focus on a variety of topics, such as housing, environmental planning, transportation planning and urban design. Students examine these topics through a combination of design, policy and management perspectives.

  • From designing and creating games, mobile apps, websites, robots, or internet-connected devices of all kinds, to exploring visual communication and design, the transdisciplinary BS in Creative Technology & Design infuses creativity into engineering and technology. Equal parts production, critique and theory, the Creative Technology & Design degree integrates technical expertise with project-based exploration and a critical and historical understanding of creative and digital technologies.

  • The Media Studies minor emphasizes the creative and analytical skills needed to make sense of current and future trends in media, and to gain a deep understanding of the history and development of various means and forms of communication. Explorations of media theory, history, criticism, practices, popular culture, technology and emerging cultures are enhanced by practical training in media design, storytelling, digital art, online community engagement, documentary filmmaking and social media.

  • From acting to costume technology, the theatre program offers a broad-based BA program intended for students interested in theatre, as well as other areas of study. Theater majors get to explore artistic discipline, creativity, critical insight and interpersonal communication. Students are encouraged to produce their own work and get involved in activities ranging from participation in productions to presentation of individual creative work.
