Class of 2020: Tanner Anthony-Miner
Tanner Anthony-Miner, a sustainable planning and urban design major from Colorado Springs, plans to get started on his positive impact after graduation.
“Tanner consistently brought thoughtful and creative ideas to studio. He synthesized information from different experiences to inform innovative research and analysis work in service of the Ҵýƽ campus and community. Tanner also demonstrated uplifting enthusiasm for his classmates' work while also consistently offering constructive feedback. His contributions in studio have inspired me as a teacher. Tanner's combination of analytical skills, design skills, and thoughtful reflection will serve him well in whatever paths he pursues!” –Alana Wilson, ENVD lecturer
What inspired you to come to ENVD?
As soon as I began thinking about a future career, I knew that I wanted to have a positive impact on the lives of others and the environment. I thought engineering was the path for me. After a stint in the engineering department, I knew it was not for me. I wanted to tour other colleges around campus and sure enough, the first building I walked into was ENVD. I knew almost immediately that it was where I would spend the next four years. Each class I took inspired me more to pursue this major. People were always surprised by the amount of time I put into my work–the thing was I just really enjoyed doing it.
What will you miss most?
Seeing the unbridled enthusiasm of other creative minds.
Favorite memory?
It was the final review for a portfolio class I took with Jeremy, and the professionals reviewing our portfolios spotlighted my portfolio for the personality that I was able to create. I had worked so hard on the project and it felt so good to be acknowledged. I didn't stop smiling for the rest of the day.
If you could say anything to your classmates what would you say?
Maybe a little wisdom. Get enough sleep before a review, put your heart into your work, and be kind to yourself.
What are your plans beyond graduation?
Get started on my positive impact!
