MS-DS Program Finds New Home in CU Engineering

The Master of Science in Data Science (MS-DS) program has moved to the College of Engineering and Applied Science, effective July 1. Brian Zaharatos has been named the program’s new director.

Evaluation Reminder for Research Faculty

Research faculty performance evaluations are due to Research Faculty HR (resfachr@colorado.edu) by Sept. 15. More information can be found on the Research Faculty HR webpage.

Engineering Professional Development Funds

FY 2024-25 funding applications now open!
Funding of up to $500 per staff member per fiscal year is available on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been exhausted from the FY24-25 budget. Eligible activities include, but are not limited to, exam fees, training sessions, workshops and conferences.

Tenure/Tenure-Track Faculty: Sabbatical Applications

Applications are due Jan. 15
If you plan to take an AY 2025-26, fall 2025, CY 2026 or spring 2026 sabbatical, please ensure your application is submitted to CEAS HR by the deadline. Please be aware that there is a new Sabbatical Application effective for this cycle, and sabbaticals will only be accepted if the correct application is submitted. The University of Colorado is upgrading from Skillsoft to Skillsoft Percipio on Sept. 12. To ensure that your training records are successfully migrated to the new system, please complete any outstanding training in Skillsoft by 5 p.m. Sept. 6. Supervisors, please be sure to work with your teams to remind them of this deadline.

Employee Recognition Award

Nicole Morris, Graduate Course Scheduling and Event Program Coordinator - CS
Nicole is being recognized for her excellent contributions to the department via her very visible work organizing our department’s major events (including our Winter celebration and our graduation ceremony) and her less visible (but very important) work on graduate course scheduling and management. She was lauded by her colleagues for being amazingly organized and efficient and for always being willing to lend a hand. Nominations commented on her can-do spirit and her friendly approachable attitude. She is a highly valued member of our team.

Brandon Geer, Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator - CS
Brandon is being recognized for the excellent job he does in creating, maintaining, and updating the hundreds of appointments that our department creates every term. It is a large job that he handles efficiently with a great attitude. He was lauded by his fellow staff members for his friendship and always being willing to help others and to answer questions as they come up. One nomination commented that it truly seems that as soon as one hiring season is completed, the next one starts almost immediately and they said that Brandon is always ready and gets the job done. Brandon is a highly valued member of our team.

Lauren Darling, ITL Product Design and Instrumentation Engineer - ITLP
Lauren is being recognized for her exceptional work on the EngiNearMe summer program. Lauren has been an integral part of this program for several years, and her passion, dedication to students, and consistent ability to go over and above are unparalleled. Lauren's commitment is evident through her willingness to prepare for months in advance for EngiNearMe, work long hours throughout the program, and mentor and connect 1:1 with students, all in addition to her regular job duties. Her positive impact on the program is evident from the enthusiastic feedback we receive from students, families, and staff members, who consistently praise their experiences with Lauren. EngiNearMe is one of our most successful pipeline programs, and we are certain that this level of success would not have been possible without Lauren's dedication and hard work. Lauren's contributions are exceptional, and our team believe she is deserving of this recognition.
