All college organizational (org) charts have now been transitioned to Microsoft Visio. Live training on the tool was offered in January, and links to organizational charts and supplemental training resources were subsequently sent to all units and department leads and HRLs. Please verify that your team’s organizational charts are up-to-date and that they follow the appropriate standards for the upcoming organizational planning efforts.

Need a refresher on how to use Visio for your unit’s org charts? 

To better manage position change requests for staff throughout the College, CEAS HR requests that supervisors and/or human resources liaisons (HRLs) seek to formally request change by submitting a Change Request Form.

Change Request Forms should be initiated by a supervisor or HRL on behalf of a staff employee within the College of Engineering & Applied Science. They can be requested for the following scenarios:

• Requesting a staff promotion
• Requesting a salary adjustment for a staff employee (without promotion)
• Requesting a new staff position (i.e. new headcount)
• Requesting to backfill a vacant staff position
• Requesting a new supervisor for a staff employee

By having supervisors or HRLs request approval for these HR functions through the Change Request Form, we are creating a system in which all requests go through a standardized approval process, and requests are reviewed and approved equitably through a data-driven process.

All supervisors and HRLs should have received an email with instructions for how to proceed with submitting new position change requests. For any questions regarding this form, please contact CEASHR@colorado.edu or attend the CEAS HR Virtual Office Hours every other Tuesday.

���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ is streamlining the process of connecting current students with on-campus job opportunities. ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ is transitioning to Handshake, which will soon become the sole platform for posting all student jobs and internships. Starting in March 2024, departments are encouraged to use Handshake as the platform for posting student employment jobs and internships. This includes hourly and work-study positions. 

Those who use the current Student Employment Portal may continue to access and edit existing job postings on until it’s phased out on July 1. For any questions on how to set up and use Handshake, please feel free to reach out to studentemployment@colorado.edu.

Engineering Staff Council will host tours of the 30th Street Greenhouses on Monday, April 22, to kick off spring and celebrate Earth Day. Join us for either of the tours!

If you know where to go, please plan to arrive at the greenhouses for a 10 or 11 a.m. tour start. Otherwise, you can meet ESC members in the lobby outside the Dean’s Office at 9:45 or 10:45 a.m. and walk with a group.

Danielle Porchetta, Operations & HR Coordinator, ChBE

Danielle is being nominated because of her sustained hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence in her role as Operations and HR Support Coordinator. She has developed high competence in managing the department’s teaching schedule and her HR duties while continuing to take on new tasks. Most tellingly, she eagerly jumps in to handle time-sensitive tasks that are important to the department, regardless of whether they strictly fall under her job description. 

Laramie Rose, Operations & Financial Services Program Manager, MSE

Laramie oversees every aspect of the Materials Science and Engineering Program that includes all aspects related to our students, our program faculty, our finances, managing our physical space, and supervising the graduate program advisor. Laramie continually demonstrates a strong commitment to the program, performing tasks with the highest integrity and to the highest level. Laramie is always thinking of ways that we can improve and expand the program to make it a better place for our students and faculty. The success of the MSE program is largely attributed to Laramie’s strong commitment and dedication to the program.

Aaron Gindi, Software Engineer, ITLP

As Aaron's supervisor and someone who has closely observed his contributions to ITLP and the CEAS departments that we support, I can attest to his exceptional performance and dedication. Aaron has been instrumental in spearheading "Caboose," among other projects, demonstrating remarkable initiative and problem-solving skills. His ability to navigate challenges and deliver solutions has been pivotal to our team's success. Aaron's commitment to quality, his attention to detail, and the consistently positive attitude he brings to work set him apart as a deserving candidate for this award. We are incredibly fortunate to have Aaron on our team, and I look forward to his continued contributions and successes at ITLP.

Do you want to promote diversity and inclusion? The Inclusive Leadership Course available through CU on Coursera will empower and equip you to interact effectively with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds. This course is valuable for current or aspiring leaders in any type of workplace — in formal or informal roles — who seek to achieve any type of goal.

���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ faculty and staff are invited to join campus Human Resources for a training focused on understanding the potential inequities in participating in virtual meetings. The purpose of this seminar “Making Virtual Meetings Inclusive: Exploring Equity Gaps” is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills for making virtual meetings inclusive.
