Course Description

This introductory course is designed to introduce the concepts, tools, and techniques used in managing and measuring quality and productivity in a business environment. Throughout the course, students will explore the principles of quality, including foundational concepts, as well as the implications of quality with respect to customers, the workforce, and processes. Additionally, students will learn to apply the tools and techniques associated with the quality sciences. Associated topics include statistical methods, design quality, measurement, control, process improvement, and Six Sigma. Finally, students will discover the basics of performance excellence management. Topics include the Baldrige Award criteria, strategic planning, leadership, and daily management.

In addition to the provided text, these topics will be explored through the examination of specific examples and case studies from modern companies in business today.
