Kathryn E. Wiley is a Faculty Fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education. She is an expert in education policy and school discipline. She uses multiple methods and a historical lens to understand contemporary education policies in the context of longstanding, racialized inequalities. Her research has appeared in the聽American Educational Research Journal, American Journal of Education, Educational Administration Quarterly, Education Finance and Policy,聽and聽Evidence and Policy聽and has been featured in聽Chalkbeat聽and聽Boulder Weekly. Prior to joining the School of Education, she conducted research with the聽University of Denver-Denver Public Schools Researcher-Practitioner Partnership on School Discipline.聽Findings from her recent study on in-school suspension will soon be available in聽The Urban Review聽and聽Race Ethnicity and Education.聽She was a recipient of a聽National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship and a University of Colorado Boulder Dissertation Fellowship and has since served as PI and co-PI on grants from the Spencer Foundation and the University of Denver. She has a聽PhD in Educational Foundations, Policy聽and Practice from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is from Dayton, Ohio and is proud of her Sinclair Community College and Wright State University roots.
