Alexis (Lex) Hunter is a PhD student in the Educational Foundations, Policy, and Practices (EFPP) program here at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ. Prior to beginning her doctoral journey she attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned her undergraduate degree in Secondary Language Arts in May 2021. Lex is interested in how marginalized youth leverage technology in ways that challenge dominant perspectives that see social media as purely an entertainment platform. She sees how marginalized youth use social media to advocate, dream, build community, and engage in healing practices that sustain them in the life-long fight for liberation. Joining the Voices of Healing team allows for her to continue thinking about culturally responsive approaches to healing that center wellbeing as an embodied, continuous process that disrupt individualistic framings around wellness.
