Alumnus Cole DeForest Named Among AIChE's '35 Under 35'
Alumnus Cole DeForest, who earned his PhD in our department in 2011, has been named one of AIChE’s “35 Under 35.” The award recognizes his contributions to the institute and the chemical engineering profession.
An assistant professor at the University of Washington, DeForest, 33, was selected in the bioengineering category. During his time at Ҵýƽ, he worked in Professor Kristi Anseth’s lab developing novel biomaterials with specific functions for 3D cell culture. He also earned a GAANN Fellowship and was part of the NIH T32 Molecular Biophysics Predoctoral Training Program. DeForest served on the United Government of Graduate Students and the Engineering Excellence Fund as a graduate student.
“The winners exemplify the best our profession has to offer and represent the full breadth of early ChE career paths,” according to AIChE.
DeForest will be recognized during the 2017 AIChE Annual Meeting in Minneapolis this fall.
