- Concrete Canoe Competition
Concrete Canoe papers must be submitted by March 1, 2019, to ceaeconference2019@gmail.com with hardcopies sent to: 428 UCB, 1111 Engineering Drive, Boulder, CO 80310 Additionally, please note that you will have to submit this to the National website as outlined in the rules.
- Technical Paper Presentation
The topic of this year’s technical paper will be left to each individual school. However, the paper should focus on a technical issue that has relevance to the Civil Engineering field of study. For example, students may write about research that their school is currently conducting or will be conducting in the future. The rubric used for this paper and presentation is on the last page of Mailer 1.
- Non-Technical Paper PresentationÌý
We will be following the Daniel W. Mead paper topic and rules.Ìý
Papers will be presented by each school that is participating in this optional event. The rubric used for this paper and presentation is on the last page of Mailer 1.

To be eligible for the national Daniel W. Mead prize, students must submit their papers separately to ASCE Nationals.
- Mystery Design
This portion of the conference will exercise the ability of the engineering students to think on their feet, work under pressure, and produce a usable product in a short period of time. The actual competition will be revealed to participants at the conference just prior to the event beginning.
- Pre-Design
Want to earn more points for your team, meet students from other schools, and solve a real world design problem? Sign up 2 people from your school to compete in the Pre-Design hosted by Kiewit. You will work in teams with other schools to propose a solution to a real world engineering design challenge. Judges, rules and prizes will be provided by Kiewit. Schools who participate will receive points awarded to their final score.
