Starting January 24th, CESR welcomes new executive director Mark Meaney, who brings over 17 years鈥� experience in higher education and public sector ethics and compliance program development to CESR, coming to us directly from his post as Faculty Director for Haas鈥� Leading with Ethics program at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Meaney was formerly the Statewide Director of Ethics with the Office of the President at the University of California in Oakland, facilitating development and implementation of the ethics program for the UC鈥檚 10 campuses, five academic medical centers and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Prior to joining the University of California, Meaney held a political appointment with Mayor Richard M. Daley鈥檚 administration in the City of Chicago as Chief Ethics Officer and First Deputy Director of the Office of Ethics and Compliance.听
Meaney鈥檚 experience in corporate ethics programming covers a wide array of industries including healthcare, higher education,听global engineering and construction, government contractors, transportation services and non-profit organizations.听He developed monitoring procedures for multinational corporations in accordance with the U.N. Global Compact guidelines and standards to identify risks and vulnerabilities with respect to harmful work conditions and human rights violations.听

Mark Meaney graduated from Marquette University with a Doctorate of Philosophy specializing in Applied Ethics. His previous academic appointments include the Legal Studies Department at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he taught Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics.听He has numerous publications in both professional and popular media including a听book on professional development for Ethics Officers.听
