����Program Overview��

The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities (HUMN) at ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ is an interdisciplinary degree program that allows students to combine different fields of study from all the disciplines of the humanities as well as from the social sciences (in particular, anthropology, ethnic studies, psychology, sociology, women and gender studies). This major especially encourages students to develop their interdisciplinary interests in fields of cultural and humanistic expression such as literature, art, music, film, philosophy, history, modern media, religion and contemporary critical practice and theory.��

Over the course of their studies, Humanities majors acquire a thorough knowledge of arts and culture while developing rigorous critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills that will prepare them for a wide variety of careers. The innovative adaptability and independence of thought our students develop make them valuable employees, conscientious citizens, and life-long arts enthusiasts. ��The Humanities major prepares for a number of fields and positions, including grant writing, web design, education, journalism, communication, social or public service, museum or library work, and more (in public, private, and non-profit sectors). There are also research positions in a wide variety of fields. Moreover, many majors go on to graduate studies, including law school and medical school.

Admission Requirements

To graduate in a 4-year time frame, it is important that students follow the recommended schedule. Students who wish to continue their education at the community college beyond the number of credits specified below should explore with both community college and ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ staff how their graduation timeline, COF stipend, and financial aid will be affected.��

Completion of the four semesters of coursework above fulfills the requirements for a general Associate��of Arts Degree at all Colorado community colleges and will fulfill the General Education requirements at ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������.

Completion of all eight semesters of coursework listed above fulfills the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Humanities at ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������.

*For transfer electives ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ recommends taking gtPathways courses in any GT-AH area��or in GT-HI1 or GT-SS3, especially in the arts and humanities (ART, DAN, FRE, HIS, JPN, LIT, MUS, PHI, SPA, THE) and the qualitative social sciences (ANT, COM, ETH, PSY, SOC, WST) as these courses could potentially count toward the HUMN major’s required “Outside Area of Study.”

**The HUMN major requires the completion of 12 credits in an “Outside Area of Study,” which is usually a 2^nd major, a minor, or a certificate.�� The number of Outside Area of Study courses a student needs to take at ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ can vary depending on how many of their community college transfer electives and/or gtPathways courses can count toward this requirement.
